For over a decade Jamie gained his reed making knowledge and experience in Fife before deciding it was time to start out on his own reed making venture. head over to the listen page for examples.
Jamie’s bagpiping journey started out much like many other pipers, it’s in the family. From the age of nine Jamie was taught by his father Michael Elder who’s own piping achievements include:
Every prize in the silver medal except from 1st (How frustrating)
Gold medal competitor at the Argyllshire gathering and Northern meeting
2nd A grade MSR at the northern meeting
Dunvegan gold medal winner
2nd Dunvegan Clasp
Silver chanter competitor
Pipe Major of the Black watch pipes and drums
So it would be fair to say he was in good hands from the offset. Whilst Jamie to this day is still taught by his father he also receives tuition from Andrew Wright and Jimmy Banks. Although Jamie is an avid solo piper he also enjoys playing in the bands and has been a member of the Inveraray and district pipe band since 2013. During that time he has been fortunate enough to have won the world pipe band championships twice in 2017 & 19 and the world quartet competition. Some of Jamies own piping achievements include:
2x world champion with the Inveraray and district pipe band
world quartet champion
Silver medal and light music competitor at the Argyllshire gathering and northern meeting

Skye open light music prize list
Braemar open light music prize list
